Length Is the Point

A 20 ft pool is for cooling off. A 40 ft pool is for swimming. At roughly forty feet long and eight feet wide, this is a true lane — long enough to actually put in laps, narrow enough to fit down the side of a house or along a property line where a rectangular in-ground pool would eat the entire yard. The Classic Design keeps a constant depth along that length, which is the simplest configuration to install, heat and maintain.

Finish, Placement and Running Costs

The black exterior suits a modern build and hides the industrial origin better than raw steel. Wherever you put it, remember that a 40 ft pool holds roughly twice the water of a 20 ft one, so size your heater and filtration to the volume and factor the running cost into your decision. Ground preparation also matters more at this length: the shell needs continuous, level bearing along its full run, not just at the ends.
